THe Band
After playing throughout the 1970’s in various projects, Omaha, Nebraska natives Stan and Wayne Fritz formed the band “On the Fritz” in 1980. The original line-up included Stan Fritz (Bass and Vocals), Wayne Fritz (Lead Guitar), Robin Floyd (Lead Singer and Guitar), and Mark “Earthquake” Lierly (Drums).
With the additions of Turk Mully in 1986 and John Kent in 1987, the current foursome was created. Although various lead singers fronted the band in the late 80’s and 90’s, the existing members have performed together since that time. Turk took on the overall lead singer role in the late 90’s and the band has played regularly since.
On The Fritz has played nearly every major club or event in the region and remains one of the most popular bands, consistently playing around 100 shows a year. The band’s experience, diversity and talent allow them to play clubs, street dances and casinos as well as wedding receptions, corporate events and private parties.
The band boasts a collective resume that includes the release of three albums while sharing the stage with over forty national acts.
Stan & Wayne Fritz
Well known legends of the Omaha music scene, Stan and Wayne started playing guitar in 1965. Their parents purchased matching white Fender Stratocasters for the twins to learn on, and the two were hooked.
Their first guitar teacher was Dean Short, who introduced them to all kinds of music. In 1970 the Fritz twins formed their first rock band, performing for the very popular Omaha World Herald “Show Wagon” talent show events and also playing at many school functions.
As the diverse musical decade of the 1970’s progressed, the Fritz’s formed the band Kickin’. This group produced a debut album in 1978 entitled “Starbound Lady”. Kickin’ traveled extensively supporting their original music, touring the U.S. and Canada. Stan and Wayne relocated to Canada, living in Winnipeg and Toronto. The Canadian music scene was vibrant, and the twins were playing opening support act shows for Rush, The Joe Perry Project and Bryan Adams while doing club shows with bands whose lineups included future members of Loverboy and Saga.
On The Fritz was formed in 1980, and the twins continue to perform nearly 100 shows per year.
Turk Mully
Turk Mully was raised in Ames, Iowa. He started playing music at a young age, taking classical piano lessons from Mrs. Simpson and adding tenor saxophone in elementary school band.
Shortly after graduating from Ames High School, he got his start in the music business joining the Cedar Rapids, IA based band Men Rockin, in 1984. The band’s debut album, entitled “Life 2” sold well in the Midwest. They followed that up with “A Serious Song”, which received considerable radio airplay in the area. Men Rockin toured the Midwest playing college showcases and performed for the 1985 edition of TV’s Star Search show. After the band split up, Turk joined On The Fritz in 1986.
His vocal style is versatile, strong and consistent, while adding excellent keyboard musicianship and an occasional saxophone solo.

John Kent began playing drums in 1981. John’s dad was an established drummer for years, playing in swing and marching bands. While never having taken formal lessons, John was given a drum set in the basement to tinker on. Along with brother Brian, the Kent boys found they could annoy their neighbors and parents at the same time.
After graduating from Lincoln East High (Lincoln, NE), and dabbling at UNL, John joined the regional band Justin Morgan in 1983. After leaving Justin Morgan, John helped form the Lincoln-based band Airstrike. This band released their debut album, entitled “Initial Attack”, in 1986. Airstrike toured throughout the country promoting the album. After leaving Airstrike, John was asked to fill in Christmas night in 1987 for On the Fritz. After two weeks, John was approached about joining the band and has been a member since.
He prides himself on solid drumming and strong vocals. Since first playing for an audience in 1981, John keeps a steady hand on the wheel and guides the band through every performance.
